how it all started
In 2018, these two beds were built for me to have a little garden with tomatoes and zucchini. I was hooked! The garden continued to grow every year by one or two beds.
Spring OF 2021
In the spring of 2021, a berm for flowers was added. My love for growing flowers was born. I just couldn’t get enough.
Spring OF 2022
In the Spring of 2022, the current berm was increased and the perimeter around the berm was defined with gravel. This would also create room for 5-6 additional flower beds.
SUMMER OF 2022
In the summer of 2022, the other half of the perimeter was dug and gravel was added. The strawberry bed was doubled to house the tulips and ranunculus in the spring of 2023. A new patio and garden entrance was also created.
fall OF 2022
In the fall of 2022, thirteen new beds were created, and the cold frame for starting cold hardy annuals during winter and growing dahlias in the summer was also built.
Winter of 2023
In the winter of 2023, the cold frame was finished and seeds were started for the spring season.
spring of 2024
We planted 100 ranunculus corms. Ranunculus are called the rose of spring. They were some of the most beautiful flowers we have grown.

SPRING OF 2025
We purchased this piece of land to expand the flower farm.
We named it Blumenfeld Farm.
Blumenfeld, in German, means “flowering fields”. The German name is to honor both of our families. Dave’s great-great-grandparents immigrated from Germany in 1876 and lived on the farm the family still owns in Russell, KS. Lara was born in Augsburg, Germany, while her father served in the military. The merge of our two families is a beautiful story…a story of redemption and second chances…a story of God’s grace and love…and a story of BIG dreams that we are watching unfold. We are blessed to have you come along with us on our beautiful journey.
We hope to see you soon at the flower farm.
